Let no man deceive you

Little children, let no man deceive you: (1 John 3:7)

Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. (Romans 12:9)

Even though the world makes halloween seem "cute" and "harmless", the warning still remains in Scripture; Little children, let no man deceive you! We are to abhor that which is evil, no matter how "cute" the world makes it look.

Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, (2 Corinthians 6:17)

Even though the world makes halloween seem "cute" and "harmless", the warning still remains in Scripture; Little children, let no man deceive you! We are to abhor that which is evil, no matter how "cute" the world makes it look.

Why no TV?

Some people are entirely surprised, flabbergasted, and utterly shocked when they hear we do not have a TV. Some even ask how we manage to get through life without a TV. How? It's really quite simple. TV isn't an important thing in our lives, as we tossed it out many years ago. It's not a necessary or required thing to have in life, either.

It was just something we had to overcome — living without a TV. Now we can't imagine it in the house. We have much more important and valuable things to do other than sitting in front of a TV to keep occupied.

Why did we get rid of it?
Okay, find me one thing on the television that will fulfill this verse:
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Philippians 4:8 KJV

Find me one thing on the TV that is true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous, and praise. You can't. So if you can't, when you turn on a TV, you're thinking of exactly the opposite things than mentioned in Philippians 4:8.
TV is full of profanity and blasphemy, sodomy, fornication, filth, stealing, lying, adultery, drinking, smoking, and tons of other sins and evil things.

How are we to "Abstain from all appearance of evil." (1Thess 5:22 KJV) if there is a TV in our home? It'd be hard to turn it on and try to find something that would fulfill Philippians 4:8, now wouldn't it?

And if we're to "hold fast that which is good." it only makes sense that we don't hold fast to that which isn't good. So, out the door the TV went!

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
James 4:7 KJV
