He did it… again

I don't know whether anyone remembers or not when Danny somehow managed to tear his one of his spurs out and got himself a blue leg? Well, guess what? He did it again!
I happened to catch sight of him yesterday while he was standing on the barn ramp, with his right eye closed, so I figured he'd been in a fight with Jacob… a few minutes later I looked at him again, only this time I noticed the blood on his right leg…. where the spur was supposed to be… it wasn't any more. So I got on the side of him where he had his eye closed (I'd assumed he'd just got pecked around the eye, of course), and caught him pretty easily, and called to Mom that we needed to put cayenne on Danny.
So I toted him over to the goat/cow barn and we did that, and I let him back down for a while. I noticed later that it was still bleeding a bit, so we caught him again, put some more cayenne on it (the other had fallen off) and this time we wrapped it up to look like the blue leg he had last year. Crazy rooster. I followed the trail of the drops of blood he left in the grass to see if I could find the missing spur… and…. I couldn't. I have no idea how he got both his spurs off, or where in the world they went!
Anyhow, he's opening his eye halfway today, but I have a bad feeling he can't see out of it now. I waved my hand in front of it when he had it opened, and he didn't flinch. So… I'm guessing he actually got pecked in the eye, instead of just around the eye, and he probably can't see out of it now.
I'll wait until he fully opens it though, before I decide, even though I'm pretty sure he can't see.
My sleeping beauty {aka Hannah}, napping in the sunshine! I love it when she lays like that, it looks so funny! Oh, and we've put Gracie over in the barnyard now, as you can see from the 2nd picture. Mom and I got the polytape fencing up around the pond, so she can't {well, she could, if she pushed through the fence} get into the deep mud. She seems to be doing pretty good in there right now.
Danny's Blue Leg

Yesterday I caught a really, really big bullfrog in the waterhole!
I mean, he was a whopper! I had been patiently sitting by the waterhole trying to catch a frog in my net.. preferably a big frog. I even had my 5 gallon bucket with me to put them in! Two littler ones were caught (and jumped out of the 5 gallon bucket…) before I saw my prize hiding under the pipes in the water, right up against the bank.
So I slowly dipped my net in the water, which was already extended as far as it could reach, just to ensure that I could get it, slowly advanced my net underneath this big froggy, then suddenly pulled it up out of the water from underneath of him, and it pinned him to the bank, so he would jump into my net! It worked!
He has got to be the biggest frog I have ever caught. The second picture is me trying to do a hand comparison to his size ~ and he was as big as my hand!
He jumped out of the bucket twice, and he had a mighty powerful jump on him!
I really hated to have to let him go after I spend all that time trying to catch him, but oh well. Maybe by the next time I catch him he'll be bigger! (That's hard to imagine
)
Danny (my rooster) now has a beautiful blue cast on his leg…
Because he somehow managed to rip out his spur, and don't ask me how! I have no idea how he managed to do such a thing! I picked him up last night when we were putting the animals away, so I could put him in his cage for the night, and Levi noticed he was dripping blood from his foot. I simply thought he cut his toe or some such a thing, but Levi saw that his spur was completely (I mean, completely..) gone and there was a gaping hole where it should have been!
We packed cayenne pepper in and around the wound to stop the bleeding (and it did), then wrapped a paper towel around that, then Mom wrapped gauze and the sticky blue gauze around that to keep everything in. It hasn't bled anymore, so hopefully it will heal nicely… but I'm still very curious as to how he did it… and where the spur is!
The cast doesn't seem to bother Danny (neither does the absense of his spur, for that matter), and he thinks he's got something special with that pretty blue gauze wrapped around his leg!!
