Bike Ride to the Lake
Megan, Levi, and I went on a (I don't suppose you could call it short
) bike ride today out to a lake that's near us called Lake Anna. While it took a good bit to get there, it was mostly all smooth riding without any big hills or anything to go up.
We really had fun, though Megan and I are a bit wore out after all that pedaling.. LOL!
The lake really made for some good pictures (though by looking at them on the camera I wasn't sure if they had turned out!) and I thought the picture of the water and rocks looked pretty neat!
It is a bit challenging to, while riding my bike, to get my camera out of the camera bag (which is in the camera bag carrier basket attatched to the front of my bike), stay on the road, put the camera strap around my neck, open the LCD screen that I have flipped in the other way, take off the lens cap and attach it to the camera strap, then…..(I do hope I'm not boring you with this lengthy explanation!) turn on the camera, change the shutter speed, and snap the picture. All the while driving with one hand… or occasionally, no hands!
Anyhow, back to the pictures!
The water made a wonderful background for group/profile pictures!
I thought it looked really nice! Well, just so long as you didn't fall backwards and land in the water, I suppose… which I almost did a time or two (where Megan and I are standing in our picture, we were on a concrete slope, [note the first picture with Levi] standing right at the bottom by the water).
Oh yes, and we even got to see a bald eagle!
I tried to snap a shot of him while he was flying, but it didn't turn out so well since he didn't give me much time to change the shutter speed!
Oh well, at least you can somewhat see what he looked like!
Oooh, and chicory!
You know I have to get pictures of flowers if we stop near any.. LOL!! Well, I hope you enjoyed this little glimpse into our day!

:-) How sweet! How do you keep your skirts modest while you're riding? Are they just heavy and long, or what?
[Reply]
Well, no, most of mine aren't heavy, though they are fairly long. You can't wear really long & wide skirts if you're going to be riding, because those will fly up with the wind and most likely get caught in the tires (causing what I call "automatic brakes"
)
It's really only the trick of finding the right length and width for bike riding skirts, and generally once the correct width and length is found, you don't have any problems.
At least, I don't!

Lacy, I am hoping you can help me find a story from uncle arthur's bedtime stories. It's from the "The Story Book, stories for character building" volume. The title is "Peter Pays up" I urgently need it for a children story time tomorrow, December 12. I just happened on your website when I was searching for "The two Carolines" story also by Arthur Maxwell. I'm Not sure if you will see this note before tomorrow if you, PLEASE HELP!!

Very beautiful! I hope that road wasn't a busy one, with Levi laying in the middle like that. I would have been scared that a car would drive up from behind!
You and Megan must be experts at riding bikes in long skirts. Whenever I try I somehow manage to get all tangled up in the spokes or chain or both. Theres no way I could have made it so far. I know it's possible, I just can't seem to figure it out!

Sounds like a fun day! The bald eagle looks really cool, unfortunately we don't get many birds of prey over here in Britain, and most of those are in Scotland.
