Dentist Trip, and Poll

Posted By Lacy on November 18, 2008

We had a pretty enjoyable trip to the dentist this time, I suppose as enjoyable as going to the dentist can be! I was done in probably 5 minutes or less, since all they did was take me back to the room to give me my next 3 sets of aligners, check out my teeth, and put the new aligners in.
Levi got his filling and was only in there about 20 or 25 minutes! One side of his mouth was completely numb and it was really funny to see him try to smile or laugh. :D We did forget to take Mom’s book so she could read in the waiting room, but she wouldn’t have gotten any more than a couple of pages in anyhow. :P

It seems I won’t be tutoring McKayla again for a little while, since she’s now reading pretty good (as good as can be expected for a 1st grader!) and seems to be doing pretty good in school, so now my tutoring isn’t needed. I’m glad she’s doing better though! :)

At the dentist office, both Levi and I got asked if we were getting ready for ‘the holidays’, so I decided to make a quick poll here, just because I’m curious to see the response. :) According to the Scriptures, should Christians celebrate christmas? Please vote on the poll in the sidebar!

    Hi Lacy
I also went to the dentist today! Had two of my teeth extracted (was a bit painful!). My mouth was also very numb- couldn’t speak clearly for a while.
I’m having braces fitted in two weeks time - not enough space in my mouth hence the extractions! I need to wear them for qiute a while but I can’t wait for the day they’ll come off & my teeth will be all straight!!

    God bless
    Jessica

  2. Ouch! I’m sure that did hurt!

They had to sand between my teeth on my last visit, to make room for my teeth to move. That didn’t hurt, it just vibrated my whole head!

  3. Celebrate Christmas in the proper Christian way…yes. I always have to struggle against the way that the culture celebrates ‘the holidays;-Generic and secular…no.

  4. I am interested in seeing how the poll turns out. This year will be my second year not celebrating christmas.

  5. We have never celebrated Christmas until recently, because it is so hard on our kids to see everyone else getting presents, and it makes it seem to them that being a Christian equals having no fun… I will admit that having a “Christmas” tree is pretty. But… I know that Christmas is a recent thing, not something celebrated by early believers, and that it is basically totally pagan in its origins, focused on the winter solstice festivals. That’s why we STOPPED celebrating it. But now I am not so sure as to how “evil” it is to have something for the family to focus on regarding Christ during the darkest part of the year.
Congratulations on NOT celebrating, as to the Lord (Romans 14… some hold certain days above others, while others celebrate all days alike… whatever the case, let it all be done “to the Lord”.)

  6. Hello Lacy,    I must first compliment you on your desire to put Christ first and being a Godly young maiden.  I have been doing a lot of research on Christmas: that is how I came across your article.  While much of the information I had found elsewhere, as well, the way you put it together was remarkable for someone your age.  If you are idiotic, we need more idiots.    I think it is interesting that the Anabaptists, for the most part, were never part of Catholicism.  They and most protestants did not celebrate Christmas until very recently. In 1871, Charles Spurgeon, famous Baptist preacher, completely denounced it, in a sermon.  I am an older person, so I am having trouble convincing those around me as to how satanic it is.    I visited a few pagan and witchcraft (Wicca - Craft) sites.  I would not recommend it, at least for any length of time.  Due to the “Harry Potter” books and other things, witchcraft is on the rise.  In fact, many of them claim this is their time in history; “The Hour of the Witch”.  Sad thing is, many of the items Christians will decorate their homes with, they will use in their ceremonies, at this same time of year.    Since it is a mixture of pagan and Roman Catholic traditions, we as Anabaptists and Protestants should leave it alone. Remain strong, and remember, when attacked, there are other like minded people out there, just as God told Elijah
May God always guide you and keep you in His will
